A Message From Our Founder

Dear Students and Parents,

It’s a universally known fact: one-on-one tutoring is an invaluable supplement to a truly great education.  No person is too smart, too old, or too young to benefit and improve from private instruction, and no student should ever be ashamed to ask for extra help.  Socrates tutored Plato, and Plato tutored Aristotle; today they are considered some of the most influential thinkers in human history.

Not only does private tutoring offer the obvious benefit of helping students achieve higher scores on standardized tests such as the SAT, ACT, LSAT, GRE, GMAT, and ISEE — and earn admission to the world's top colleges and universities — but it can also help improve their study skills and critical thinking, creating well-rounded, intelligent, and perceptive learners who are well-equipped to handle any academic, professional, or personal challenges they might encounter.  Thus, the finest tutors are not only teachers in the strictest sense, but mentors and role models as well.

But where does one look to find an exceptional tutor?  Naturally, the internet seems like a great place to start.  Problem is, it’s hard to know which company to trust.  It’s laughable how many tutoring websites claim that their company’s tutors are "the best" — without even telling you who their tutors are.  They promise you the moon and the stars, and toss around meaningless score improvement guarantees, but in reality, no tutoring service can truly guarantee your success, especially the ones who keep the identities of their tutors behind closed doors.

Ultimately, the best and most reliable assurance of your student's success lies not in proprietary 3rd-party materials, a robust marketing budget, a soulless computer algorithm, or empty promises, but in the experience, expertise, and dedication of your particular tutor — you know, the person who is actually in charge of the instruction!

At McElroy Tutoring, my mission is simple.  I offer the elite services of one of the the best and most experienced educators in the business: me.  In addition to my 20+ years and 20,000+ hours of private tutoring, admissions consulting, and essay editing experience, I am a relentless perfectionist and natural communicator who has scored either perfectly or in the 99th percentile on every exam that I teach.  My aim is to never stop learning, and to never stop improving at what I do best.

Because I am confident in my students' results and my teaching abilities, and because I trust that you will be satisfied, you are never required to pay for more than one lesson at a time.  However, if you decide to purchase an up-front package, then I offer some of the best bulk discounts in the industry (up to 25%).

Please remember that phone consultations with me are always free.  During that consultation, I promise to answer any questions you may have as best and as honestly as I can, and at the very least, to point you in the right direction — regardless of whether you become a paid client.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Brian R. McElroy, Harvard '02
